When the Wilderness Territory decided to develop the Glacier Canyon Lodge at the Wilderness in October of 2005, no one could foresee the change that the golfing world was about to experience in the Midwest. With the purchase of 200 acres to the east of the current property, Wild Rock Golf Club started to evolve. Encompassing a scenic and diverse piece of topography, World renowned golf course architects, Hurdzan & Fry, relished the opportunity to build a world class golf course in Wisconsin Dells. Starting with several site visits, Hurdzan & Fry developed several great routing choices for the course, but not until a particular site visit took place late in November was the routing finalized after discovering an amazing sandstone ridge. With views reaching 30 miles, on a clear day, Hurdzan & Fry changed the course layout to maximize those views within the golfer's trek of these brand new 18 holes of championship caliber golf. Opening May 1, 2008 , golfers everywhere will be able to experience a creation of 18 wonderful holes, filled with dramatic elevation changes, ravines, woods, streams and an old stone quarry. Be one of the first to experience the Midwest's newest and finest test of golf by calling 1-608-253-4653 and making a tee time for your favorite foursome.

Short game and putting experts from the Dave Pelz Scoring Game School will be hosting clinics in the Milwaukee area to help golfers learn to shoot their lowest scores ever. The Dave Pelz staff will host a series of one-day putting and wedge clinics designed by popular "Scoring Game" instructor at acclaimed Erin Hills Golf Course, June 3rd-7th. Pelz, who has been credited for his one-on-one coaching of three-time major winner Phil Mickelson, says "How you play inside of 100 yards is the prime determinant of how you score. About 80 percent of the shots golfers lose to par occur in that distance range. My putting and wedge clinics are designed, and constantly refined by research, to improve your execution of these shots and build on your improvement with proper practice." Students learn proper set-up positions and techniques to make repeatable swings for pitches, chips and bunker shots. The putting session is designed to help groove a proper "pendulum" stroke, putter path and face angle, set-up and sweet-spot impact. Each six-hour clinic, taught by instructors from the renowned Dave Pelz Scoring Game School, contains a three-hour putting session and a three-hour wedge session. Clinics begin with indoor theory presentations, then move quickly outdoors so students can practice under the staff's supervision. The student-to-teacher ratio at each clinic is 6 to 1, with a maximum class size of 18. The fee is $375 per student.
